Bob Dudley (Class of ’79), Group Chief Executive and Executive Director of BP
Education

Career
Bob Dudley has had a fascinating and successful career in the oil and gas industry. He began his career at Amoco Corporation in 1979 and remained with the company for 20 years, working in a variety of engineering and commercial posts. Between 1994 and 1997, he worked on corporate development projects in Russia. In 1997, he became general manager for strategy for Amoco and in 1999, following the merger between BP and Amoco, was appointed to a similar role in BP.
Dudley served as the executive assistant to the group chief executive between 1999 and 2000, subsequently becoming group vice president for BP’s Renewables and Alternative Energy activities. In 2002, he became group vice president responsible for BP’s upstream businesses in Russia, the Caspian region, Angola, Algeria and Egypt.
This role lead him to become the president and CEO of Russian oil company TNK-BP from 2003 to 2008. On his return to BP in 2009 he became a member of the BP board and oversaw the group’s activities in the Americas and Asia. Between June and September 2010, he served as the president and CEO of BP’s Gulf Coast Restoration Organization in America. Finally, Dudley earned his current position of group chief executive on October 1, 2010.
Edward S. Verona (Class of ’87), President and Chief Executive Officer, U.S.-Russia Business Council
Education
Mr. Verona received a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Arizona and a Masters of International Management (MIM) from Thunderbird School of Global Management.
Career
Ed Verona began his professional career in 1980 as a Special Representative for mining and petroleum equipment manufacturer, Ingersoll-Rand, based in Bolivia, Ecuador, and Florida. In 1987 he joined Shell Oil Company working in the Group Services Division in New York City. Two years later he was appointed to the U.S. Foreign Service and assigned as an Economic Officer to the American embassies. He worked in this position for seven years working in Mexico City, Brasilia, and Moscow.
In 1996, Mr. Verona left the Foreign Service to become Executive Director of Petroleum Advisory Forum, a Moscow-based industry association representing international oil and gas companies in Russia. In 1998, he was named Russia Country Manager for Texaco, Inc., based in Moscow. One year later, Mr. Verona was transferred to Almaty, Kazakhstanas Texaco’s Country Manager, where he also served as Chairman of the Kazakhstan Petroleum Association for two years. After that, he became the International Government Relations Advisor in Washington, D.C.
Following Texaco’s merger with Chevron, he became Vice President for Government and Public Affairs for ChevronTexaco’s upstream operations in Latin America, based in Caracas, Venezuela from 2001 to 2003. Mr. Verona served as Chief Representative in Moscow of the Canadian Barrick Gold Corporation from 2004 to 2006. He was appointed Vice President of ExxonMobil Russia, Inc., based in Moscow in 2006. Finally, he became President and CEO of the U.S.-Russia Business Council on June 1, 2008.
Denise Farinos (Class of ’04), Chief Financial Officer of General Motors South America

After joining GM, Denise Farinos worked in Brazil in several areas of the company, such as marketing, manufacturing and engineering, but always in the finance function. To complement her professional experience, she participated in several projects with strategic importance that built her experience and gave her a solid understanding of GM's business.
Farinos first international assignment was as CFO of GM's Colmotores operation in Colombia. During this experience, she was deeply involved in the day-to-day operations, and was there in June 2009 when GM declared Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Through commitment, dedication and an eagerness to learn, Denise Farinos worked her way up to the top to become CFO of General Motors South America.
